Hucknall Beer Festival – It’s FINALLY BACK!

2023 Hucknall Beer Festival Update – It’s Finally Back!

Hucknall Beer Festival returns after a 2 year break Friday 10th to Sunday 12th February with a special preview ticket evening Thursday 9th February.
We’re so excited for the return of our biggest annual fundraiser and to bring everyone back together for a weekend of great ales, ciders and socialising. The event is organised and supported by volunteers from Nottingham CAMRA who help place the beer orders ensuring a great choice available for the real ale drinkers including our own local town brewery Lincoln Green Brewing Company with Ciders chosen by local Cider maker Ray Blockley of Torkard Cider.

There will be food and a licensed bar (for the non ale and cider fans) all weekend with live music from the Blurred Mondays Saturday evening.

The event will also host The Spyke Golding Challenge, a new competition to celebrate the Nottinghamshire brewer with the best new beer produced for and judged at the festival. This new competition replaces the previous Nottingham CAMRA Champion Beer of Nottingham (CBoN) competition but still celebrates local brewers and will create a number of new ales that can exclusively be enjoyed at the Hucknall Beer Festival (while stocks last) before being sold at local pubs.
Judging will be by Hucknall Beer Festival attendees with the winner announced during the festival.

The event will run Friday 10th 11am to 11pm, Saturday 11th 12pm to 11pm and Sunday 12pm to 3pm with a special ticket only preview evening on Thursday 9th February 5pm to 10pm.

Updates will be shared on the festivals new webpages – thehucknallbeerfestival.co.uk and on its Facebook, Instagram and Twitter media pages with the hashtag #HucknallBeer leading up to the event.

Kim Pears, our Centre Manager shares “This will be my tenth beer festival here at the John Godber Centre and I’m looking forward to seeing both new and regular faces again. Nottingham CAMRA do a wonderful job of selecting the beers and ciders for the festival and real ale drinkers and cider fans are never disappointed with the choice on offer. This year’s drinks list will include exclusive ales as part of The Spyke Golding Challenge and we’re really looking forward to sampling them before they are sold to the trade and enjoyed in pubs. Nottingham and indeed Hucknall itself has so many great breweries and we can’t wait for the return of the festival after a two year break.
The John Godber Centre is a registered charity, and for over 116 years now we have continued the vision of Cannon John Godber to create a hall for the local community to meet and socialise in the centre of the town. We can’t think of a better way to be honouring that than with this community event that raises funds to improve and maintain the building for the wider community to enjoy, we’re home to so many groups and classes and host a wide number of life events and social activities.
COVID hit our charity hard as do the ongoing rise in costs so fundraising activities such as the Hucknall Beer Festival are more important than ever to us but equally the wish to host a great town event that so many people look forward to and get to enjoy”
